Home stretch

Hello to anyone who's still following what I put up here.  I always start off these blog projects with good intentions to update it regularly, but it usually sputters out somewhere along the way.  It's been difficult to keep up to date because our regular rhythm of operations became very stationary and repetitive.  So it seems that there's either not a whole lot to post up here about what we're doing because it's the same thing over and over or I'm not allowed to post it or I don't want to post it for personal reasons. 
     To sum up the last few months pretty quickly, I went on leave at the beginning of May to Hawaii for two weeks.  It was absolutely amazing.  That place is beautiful, let me tell you, especially when coming from a place as drab as iRack.  The greenery everywhere, the mountain range through the middle of O'ahu, the fine sandy beaches, the blue ocean water and the tropical climate was just enjoyable in every aspect.  I got to eat plenty of good food, soak up some tropical sun and warm pacific water, learn to surf, go on a couple of hikes and hang out with a few good friends.  I have plenty of pictures, but none on this computer in the internet cafe at the moment, but I will definitely be glad to show you some if you're interested.  I also put a few of the good shots on facebook if anyone wants to see those. 
     Following leave, I came back to my regular base, just after my company completed a move of our headquarters compound in my absence.  It was a big operation with several big moving pieces for my company, as we had to break down communications and restore it across the base at a new site, all in one night.  I'm very proud of my Soldiers because they did a great job and it was quite a success.  Almost immediately after that, my first sergeant, the senior enlisted member of my company and my right hand man, changed out for a new first sergeant.  We've been getting along great so far and I'm glad to have a new guy on board to work with. 
     Other than that, we've been planning our redeployment in September and conducting business as usual.  Unfortunately, it's not that exciting, but at least it's something to do!  I appreciate all your thoughts and prayers as we wind up in the next 2-3 months here.  I'll try to update a little more on my personal situation as I can.  Right now, I'm up at another base in iRack, doing a conference with some other company commanders.  It's good to take a break, talk about some future planning and think through some leadership issues as we guide our organizations.  Thanks for reading!
